The Pineapples Music
The Pineapples From The Dawn Of Time formed in 1985, out of the ashes of Brisbane’s punk scene from the early part of the decade. A band was formed out of members from outre outfits such as Kicks, Riptides, The Ken Palmer Connection, Tex Deadly & The Dum Dums and The Kingswood Trio. Often adorned in ridiculous costumes, the band played around Brisbane between 1985 and 1987 while gaining a cult following due to their onstage antics and songs about mass murderers, science fiction shows and drugs. In that time, the Pineapples released the double A side single ‘Saha/Too Much Acid?’ and an LP, ‘Shocker’ -- both of which sold out shortly after their respective launches.
PS. Here’s a great video for Too Much Acid? There is a lost generation of Brisbane miscreants who should remember this from the folds in their lobes.

Excellent compilation on 2 CDs, with long and short tracks, slow and fast songs. The Pineapple Thief has been compared to Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, etc. I saw them recently playing live, together with Riverside (october 2009). Unfortunately, The Pineapple Thief played only one hour, because they were considered as support for Riverside (double headline would be more appropriate). Although Riverside was also good, this evening I preferred The Pineapple Thief, as their music was more original in my opinion. Hope to see a full show soon! Although the songs for this compilation are remastered, this 2 CD set may not be a "must have" if you already own every studio album. For others, this "best of" compilation is a great introduction to the music of this band.Brooklyn Conservatory Music
